About Your Host Paul Epsom

With over a decade of practical experience as a television journalist, Paul Epsom is best known as gardening correspondent on the Emmy Award winning PBS series The Victory Garden.  Paul’s love of the art of gardening, wry British humor, and good-natured personality shine through as he inspires TV viewers to be creative in their own gardens.

In addition to The Victory Garden, Paul is often featured on Pennsylvania local television in WNEP’s successful Home and Backyard TV series, appearing in over 500 episodes.  He has also appeared on several gardening segments of the CBS Early Show

Paul won Garden Globe awards for his work as an on-air gardening correspondent in 2003, 2004, and 2005.  This award is given by the Garden Writers Association for exceptional work in garden broadcast media.  In 2006 he also received the GWA Gold Award for Best Talent.

Paul moved from England to the U.S. when he met his wife Kristine about 20 years ago.  Much of Paul’s childhood was spent in the garden.  His mother was a keen gardener and an active member of the Royal Horticultural Society.  From her Paul learned all the basics, including rose growing.  Before becoming a professional in the field, he worked as a landscaper and apprentice gardener on large English estates.

Paul attended Warwick University and London University.  He holds a joint honors degree in Psychology with post-graduate studies in Education.  He has taught in public and private schools in the U.K. and the U.S.  He also holds the Royal Horticultural Society Certificate of Horticulture.  A longtime resident of the U.S., Paul is the owner of Greystone Gardens, a specialty garden center.  He resides in scenic Clarks Summit, PA with his wife, two boys, and Irish terrier   Examples of Paul Epsom’s work can be seen on The Victory Garden PBS web site.
